This will not happen j again in a long time, it is believed. Early Saturday morning about 12:30 (shortly after midnight) a large truck loaded with 35 little calves, was coming down the moun tain from Saluda headed for Spar- , tanburg. As the truck was making J the last big curve for the straight stretch, the lights went out, and before the driver could stop, the truck left the road and turned over dumping all the little calves into Ralph Lawrence’s ’ front yard wP'it\ was conveniently already , fei*HM in. Not a calf was lost and the driver was not injured, accord ing to reports .... Capt. T. A. Henson, U. S. Medical Corp, who is in the States after service on New Guinea, Solomons, and Phil ippine campaign, was in Tryon during the week-end for a visit at the Piedmont Boy Scout camp. ... Continued, on Back Page_ Mrs. Zogbaum At Kiwanis ! J. M. Baker will be in charge of the Tryon Kiwanis club pro gram on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall hotel. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Rufus Zogbaum, who recently returned from the San Francisco Conference where she was a member of the International Secretariat. HOME AGENTS MET HERE The Home Agents of the South western North Carolina District, comprising 20 counties, held their first meeting since their organiza tion last May, at Oak Hall hotel in Tryon Saturday night at 8 o’clock. Miss Gladys Hamrick, Polk County Home Agent, was the hos tess agent. Most of the agents had arrived in Tryon by 4 o’clock. Soon afterwards they were guests at tea at Little Orchard, home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Flynn in the Hunting Country. Mrs. Flynn, and Mrs. Edward Flynn, author of the radio skit, "Batchelor’s Chil dren,” entertained with talks and readings. Other visits included the office of the world’s smallest daily newspaper, and Vollmer’s Vine yard. The group went to Mrs. Clippard at Saluda for breakfast on Sunday morning, and on the return visited Seven Hearths where Mrs. A. W. Brintnall en tertained the visitors with a talk on antiques. The rainy weather prevented other visits that had been planned. By noon most of the agents had left for their homes. Those making the trip to Tryon were Miss Sue Koon of Ruther ford. Mrs. C. Atha Wright and Mfiss Peggy Wall of Caldwell, Mrs. Helen John Wright, Miss Gaynelle Hogan, Miss Jane Little, Miss Lucy Pat Allen and Miss Betty Stough of Charlotte (Meck lenburg County), Mrs. Marie Whitmire of Rutherford and Mrs. Turner S.
