Andrews, is home for two weeks’ vacation from Reidsville, N. C., where she is a Girl Scout executive secretary. The Business Women’s Circle of the First Baptist church meets tonight at 8 o’clock at the home of Miss Pearline Parker. Pvt. Albert Gosnell has arrived from Foft Knox, Ky., for a 12-day furlough. He is visiting his sister, Mrs. Dora Emery, while enroute to Ft. George Meade, Md. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Moring of New Orleans are here for a visit with Mr. Moring*s sister, Mrs. Georgia Harper. Miss Gladys Hamrick has gone to Raleigh to attend the Home Agent’s 1946 Planning Program meeting. Cpl. James L. Moss is visiting his .mother, Mrs. Joe Moss. He recently returned from 23 months service overseas in North Africa and Europe. Asheville Citizen reports that Pfc. Ernest Lockhart of Colum bus, son of Mrs. Leila Lockhart, and husband of Mrs. Lola Lock hart, is now at Camp Butner after 25 months overseas in the Pacific. News bulletin from Camp Gor don, Ga., states that T'|4'-William Shields, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Shields of Columbus, has been discharged after 25 months over seas service. He was with the 972nd Signal Battalion in the Central Pacific, and wears the Good Conduct, ' American, and Asiatic Pacific decorations. This year’s spring pig crop was seven per cent smaller than ip 1944, but twelve per cent larger than the average for 1933-42, say authorities of the USD A. The Silver Tone Singers will appear at the Pacolet Baptist church at Lynn, Sunday afternoon, July 22, at 2 o’clock, in the Sing ing Convention. Also the Victory Trio at Hendersonville will be there and 'many other good sing ers. Public invited. Jerry Thomas Pack of Land rum Route One, was admitted to St. Ldke’s hospital Wednesday, July 18th.
