Social Security Representative Here Monday, August (>th A representative of the Ashe ville field office of the Social Se curity Board will he at the Tryon town hall on Monday, Aug. 6, at 2:30 p. m. Wate earners who have worked in a job covered by the Social Security Act since Dec. .51, t(J.ib, and have attained age 65, may be eligible to file claim for themselves, their wives, or minor children, whether they have an account number or not. Surviving relatives of deceased workers, such as wid ows, children, or parents, or if none of the above, persons who have paid funeral expenses, may be eligible to file claim. In addition, persons who have need of social security account numbers or other information per taining to the Act are invited to meet this representative at the time and place mentioned. Sgt. Marshall West of New York is the guest of Mrs. James Rex Dunn at Dunwandrin for two week; before going to Atlantic City Rest Center. He recently re turned from overseas service in Europe. Dr. Stanley A. Harris, national head of the Boy Scout Inter-Racial program, will be the guest Tuesday of Nelson Jackson. Jr., Piedmont Council vice-president and a re gional director. Misses Louise Arledge and .Sue Norton spent the week-end in Greenville. S. C., with Miss Ar ledge "s grandfather. W. A. Hudson. Dr. C. C. Norton, Dean of Woff ord college, in Spartanburg is to be the guest preacher at the Ers kine church at 11 a. m., Sunday. Mr. Murtfeldt will be at Flat Rock during the month of August. Dr. John J. Joekinsen of the Congre gational church in St. Petersburg, Fla., will supply the pulpit for the remainder of the month. Following an operation Dr. Joekinsen is coming the first of August to re side in the church parsonage al though he will not begin his preaching in the church until the second Sunday of the month. Mrs. James Andrews has re turned from her two week’s va cation with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Scully at Delco, X. C. Commander Mark Dennett, U. S. Navy, is home for a visit with his family. Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Laslett Smith have returned from their vacation in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Secretary of Agriculture Clinton P. Anderson says that soap to civi lians will be increased. He plans NO RATIONING and urges or derly buying.
