NEW LEGION POST TO
MEET AGAIN AUG. 28
Polk County veterans of World
Wars I and II met at Missildine’s
hall Thursday night and laid plans
for the permanent organization of
an American Legion Post here.
J. A. Wilson, veteran of World
War I, was made temporary chair
man. J. T. Arledge, veteran of
World War II, was made tempo
rary finance office. The permanent
organization meeting will be held
at the Court House in Columbus
on Tuesday night, August 28, at
8 p. m.
State Vice-Commander E. L.
Walker of Forest City was present
to assist in making the plans. The
membership committee consists of
P. L. Barnette, chairman; C. W.
Mason for Saluda township; A. A.
Thompson, White Oak township;
Max Feagan, Columbus township;
J. W. Mize, Tryon township. No
one was present from Green Creek
and a representative is expected
to be named at the Columbus meet
ing' on Aug. 28th. All veterans of
the First and Second World Wars
are eligible to join, and may con
tact any member of the cofnmittee.
