Y., who said he heard over the radio about Tryon be ing in the thermal belt. He looked it up and noticed that Tryon was in the coon territory, and as he i was a coon hunter he wanted to know the names of some coon hunters in this section and owners of coon dogs. McDonald, repre sentative in the State legislature from Polk County, was the chief speaker at the Tryon Kiwanis club program Tuesday at 1 p. m. J. Frank Gallimore had charge of the program. Mr. McDonald outlined the needs of an efficient wildlife program for Polk County, one that would conserve the county’s natur al resources in birds, fishes, and small animals. He pointed out the commercial value of the program as a drawing card for tourists and in furnishing revenue and food to farmers, hunters and fishermen. He stated that officials have been investigating Polk County as a possible site for a fish hatchery. Guests at the meeting included Dr. John P. Joekinsen of St. Petersburg, Fla., William Ostrand er Witt of Staten Island, N. Y., and Boy Scouts Joe Anderson and Ed Andrews of Tryon troop 1. AMERICAN LEGION POST - ORGANIZED FOR POLK The Polk County Memorial Post of the American Legion was or ganized Tuesday night at Colum bus Court House. J. A. Wilson was elected commander; G. Isham Henderson, vice-commander; A. A. Thompson, vice-commander; H. G. Flynn, vice-commander; Roy T. Raisden, Jr., vice-commander; Max Feagan, adjutant; Louis Lindsey, Sgt:-At-Arms; R. O. Andrews, ser vice officer. A feature of the meeting was a musical program presented by Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Flynn and Fred Smith of Tryon.
