Marcus Cald well brings to mind the interest ing' first day mailings received by Walter C. Hill. One of them took a year to reach him. On the en velope was stamped, “This letter j has been delayed for one year be cause of difficulty in transporta tion at Little America, Antarctica, January 31, 1934. Findlay, commissioner of game and inland fisheries, in a recent letter to Charles C. West of the Polk County Wildlife club referred to the recent trip he and members of the fish hatchery com mittee made to Polk County to in spect available sites for the pro posed smallmouth bass hatchery and had this to say: “We enjoyed seeing you very much even though our visit was entirely too short. One or two of the board members were somewhat uneasy while travelling those Polk County highways in Mr. Story’s 4-wheel-drive truck, but they were all very much impressed with the interest and enthusiasm of the sportsmen of your county. They are a group of real fellows, if what we met was a good sample and I certainly hope that we will have an opportunity to meet with them again soon.’’ ONE MORE SHIPMENT Tryon Boy Scouts will make one more shipment of waste paper. Scoutmaster and Scouts have been boxing paper in spare moments. On account of the boys going to school collections will be made on Thursday, Friday after 5:30 p. m., and on Saturday. Donors are requested to please have paper ready when Scouts call. They will take it to the street on collection day, when truck comes by for it. Mjiss Effie Doan, former super intendent of the Chicago Found ling’s Home, will be the guest speaker at the Congregational Wo men’s society meeting Tuesday at 3:30 at the church. Public invited. i s I
