Y., and Daytona Beach, Fla., have purchased Dale wood, the log house in Gillette Woods, from Mr. and Mrs. H. Arthur Schmidt. Sale through E. Perry Manville. Funeral services for Mrs. J. L. Speigle will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at Lynn Baptist Church, with Rev. T. P. Horger officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbus Presbyterian cemetery. HOSPITAL NEWS Dock Pettit has returned home after a day’s treatment at St. Luke*s hospital. Miss Annie Ar ledge of Greer R-2 had a major operation Tuesday. Otis Wofford is in for treatment of injuries made when he fell into a ditch. Bobby Ballew has returned home after an appendix operation. Mrs. J. R. Dunn is visiting her sister, Mrs. Sofield in New York City. Mrs. Edward Manville, Jr., and daughter, Peggy, are flying Thurs day from Greenville, S. C., to Spring, Texas, to join Lieut. Man ville, woh is stationed there. Miss Mariel Derby has returned to Presbyterian Hospital in Phila delphia for another operation. She expects to be there two or three weeks. Enroute to Philadelphia she spent the week-end with her sister, Miss Janet Derby, at Hol ton-Arms School in Washington, D. C. Major and Mrs. Alan Calhoun have bought the larger of the two cottages from the Gray Estate. They plan to move in as soon as it is redecorated. Major Calhoun will go into business with his father in Spartanburg, but they will make their home in Tryon. LOST: Four one dollar l^s this morning on Trade .
