There is a growing impatience at so much inertia. Business men are eager to make things grow, to build and expand in order to give better service. Many workers are after better jobs in order to pro vide security and happiness for the future. Let us be thankful for this hunger or yearning. It makes progress for a better person, a happier home, a more useful com ,?jflkity. Let us be thankful for all - WP blessings, present and past, ana for the opportunities to do something in the future. This is a great country in natural resources, but is even richer in the spirit we have inherited from our fore fathers. Hel]j that spirit to mani fest itself in every way possible. . . . . Grove Park Inn will join them soon . . . 115 .Continued or Back Page__ Senator Rogers Named on State Rural Committee Governor Gregg Cherry has an nounced the appointment of Sena tor Carroll P. Rogers as a member of the Committee to Promote Rural Industries in North Carolina dur ing the year just immediately ahead. The purpose of the com mittee is to promote full employ ment and a balanced economy. A meeting of the committee will be held in Raleigh on Nov. 29 and 30. i POLK COUNTY SCOUTERS ELECT OFFICERS The Polk County Scouters Club elected new officers at the Novem ber meeting at the school cafeteria [ Monday night. County Chairman R. H. Brady was elected president to succeed L. K. Singjley; C. W. Mason of Saluda, was elected vice president; Rev. Frank W. Murt feldt was elected program chair man ; Rev. Homer Brady of Colum bus, treasurer and Scout Commis sioner G. I. Henderson, was made secretary to succeed R. B. White. The chief speaker at the Scouter supper=meeting was L. C. Porter, who told of plans to re-organize the local Cub program, and of the importance of parents doing their part to make the program a suc cess. Lieut. Albert Myers of Gastonia, who. was a counselor at the Pied mont Camp for many years, was also a guest. BINGO! AT ROTARY Dr. M. C. Palmer will be in charge of the Rotary club pro gram Friday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall hotel, and will present a bingo game.
