Flynn is re ceiving: donations for this pur pose .... Real estate in Tryon has been moving fast within the past few weeks. The great need now is something with which to build a house. E. Perry Manville recently sold the Deborah Gray house on Melrose Circle to Mr. and Mrs. Alan Calhoun, and he leased the Edsall house in Gillette Woods to Mrs. W. N. Bullard of Lenox, Massachusetts. REV. GEO. A. BRANSCOM The Rev. George A. Branscom, 90, died at his home in Melvin Hill Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock after an extended illness. He was born in Pennsylvania and came to Polk County at the age of 17. A farmer and founder of the Church of the Brethren in Melvin Hill, he served the church as pas tor for 32 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Stacy Branscom, and a num ber of nephews and nieces. Funeral services Thursday af ternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. W< A. Reed, assisted by the Rev. Willie Gilbert of' Spindale. Pallbearers Arthur Johnson, Charles McNeese, George Stacy, Clarence Johnson, John Johnson and D. L. Head. “Tryon Again Goes Over the Top”, reports Mrs. Walter How ell, chairman of the United Church Committee for the collec tion of warm clothing for people in the war stricken areas. She says the response was generous. Blankets, fur-trimmed coats and other warm garments filled three large boxes donated for the pur pose by the Southern Mercerizing Company. Extra copies of Tb.-e Bulletin on sale at the office for 5c per copy. Mrs, P, D. K^rftten, Jr,, is beje for a week 'to open ner home on Lake Lanier. She will return to New York where she will be met by her husband, Lieut. Karsten, who is enroute from a separation center after service with the Navy in the Pacific. Both expect to spend the Christmas holidays at their home in Tryon. Mr. and Mrs. Don R. Gillan and sons, Loren and Jay, of Tre mont, 111., are visiting Mrs. Gill an’s sister, Mrs. John L. Brown, and family at Hidden Valley.
