C., will preach Sunday at the Tryon Presbyterian church .... The Tryon Kiwanis Club will not meet next Tuesday on account of it be ing Christmas Day. The meeting has been changed to Thursday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall. The railroads have been given permission to buy the Pullman . . . Theodore Whisnant of Shelby is in Rutherfordton hospital suffering from injuries received when a sailor he picked up on the road slugged him and robbed him of $140.00 .... / COUNTY OFFICES CLOSE THREE DAYS CHRISTMAS The Polk County offices in the Court House will be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Town of Tryon offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, same as Tryon stores. The Bulletin and Polk County News office will be closed Monday and Tuesday. FIRE DESTROYS HOME Fire destroyed a small cottage between Pacolet lane and Lanier street about 3 o’clock this morn ing. The property was owned by Ben Sub£r and occupied by Coley Suber’s family who were in Ashe ville, it is said. Trowbridge At Rotary James R. Trowbridge will be in charge of the Tryon Rotary Club program Friday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall hotel. Recreation Supervisor Kinys Mountain, Dec. 18.—Earl B. Ruth of Charlotte, formerly University of North Carolina basketball star and recently dis charged from the navy, has been employed as city recreation super visor here and will assume his duties on Jan. 1, according to an announcement last week by Mrs. E. A. Shenk, secretary of the city recreation commission. -* Erskine Memorial Fellowship will meet Friday, Dec. 21, at 7:30 at the church to decorate for Christmas Sunday. The decorat ing committee has already secured the greens.
