One of the most outstanding men in North Caro lina will be in Try on Wednesday night when Carl Goerch speaks at the Rotary Club ladies’ night program at Oak Hall. Mr. Goerch is outstanding in his influence as editor of The State, a weekly news magazine, that is doing more to unify North Carolina in thought and interests than any other publication. Editor Goerch ,*6 also a popular after dinner Speaker and. radio commentator on ^lorth Carolina stations. He is an author of books dealing with North Carolina—her history, peo ple, agriculture, business, indus try, recreation; in fact every thing concerning North Carolina’s physical, mental and spiritual rroyrth. He is a native of New York who has become 100 per cent Tar Heel. He knows the state from first hand, as he has visited everv county in it and has inter viewed thousands of its citizens from governors, senators, and congressman on down. He not only knows Nor'h Carolinians, he loves them, and Tryon is fortunate in having Editor Goerch here. Homer Erady of Columbus, followed with the re peating of the Scout Oath led by R. M. Schiele, Scout Executive. Rev. Frank Murtfeldt, newly elected vice-president of the Pied mont Council, for Polk County, made some announcements pertain ing to National Boy Scout Week, Feb. 8th to 14th.
