Dick has been promoted to staff sergeant with the Port Command at Bremen, Germany. BUSINESS : Sears, Roebuck to build huge store Tryon (in Charlotte). Prop to cost over million dollars. WlNiCIDENCE: Mrs. Herbert Beck from Chicago, who had. a home in Tryon and one in Florida has just sold her Tryon house to Mr. and Mrs. Tracy of Florida who are also originally from Chicago. GOVERNMENT: The attornev general has ruled that towns of less than 20,000 population are not authorized to have parking .meters. Hendersonville has just in stalled some, and Tryon has been considering them. It is a ladies’ night event. If the weather permits the picnic will be held at Harmon Field. If not, the supiper will be served in the dining room of the church. New Assistant Home Agent M!iss Margaret Cline of Shelby, N. C., has'arrived in Polk County to be assistant home agent in the office of Miss Gladys Hamrick, home agent. Miss Cline attended Mars Hill College and Eastern Carolina Teachers College, and has taught home economics for several years in the schools of Jones and Cleveland Counties. Like all new comers to Tryon she is looking for a room or small apartment.
