TRYON HORSES WIN AT BLOWING ROCK Mrs. Ernst Mahler’s Clifton’s Ruler won the grand champion s place at the Blowing Rock Horse Show last week with George Web ster riding. This is the second time in 23 years that a jumper or hunter has won the coveted prize. Mr. Webster brought home the beautiful Ralph Hoey trophy which must be won three consecutive times before becoming property of any winner. Clifton’s Ruler was also the Reserve Hunter champion. The only two hunters to become grand champions of the Blowing Rock Show, both were from Tryon. The first being Mtr. John Donald’s horse several years ago. Mr. Mahler’s Black Wick, who won first place in the hunter class at the Hendersonville show went on to Blowing Rock and won first place there in the same class. Mrs. June Eaton of Tryon rode Black Wick in the Ladies’ Events and Mr. Webster was up in the others. Clifton’s Ruler with Mr. Webster up, took second place in the Hunter class.
