Bill Baker’s Rifle Team First Place In Nation Announcement has just been made from national headquarters that the Camp Mondamin A Rifle team won first place with a per fect score of 500-500 in the contest conducted recently. Bill Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Baker of Tryon, was a member of this win ning team. The Asheville Citizen states that it was the first time a camp team in this section ever won the award. Bill is a bugler at camp, an acolite at the Holy Cross Church, and is working toward the Eagle rank in the Tryon Boy Scout Troop. Landrum Masons Meet The Landrum Lodge eNo. 278, will meet Tuesday night at 8 o’clock for work in the Fellow Craft Degree. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Fink of Salis bury are spending their vacation at Mountain Home, Saluda. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Arledge have returned from their vacation at Berea, Ky. In an exciting, hard-fought game Saturday the Tryon All Stars came through with a neat 3-2 victory over the Greenville St. Anthony Braves. Trailing until the 8th, the All-Stars were saved by the double off left field by Robert Kirkendall. This marked the All Stars’ 9th victory out of their last 10 games. Geo.
