County-Wide 4-H Picnic At Green River Plantation The 4-H Club picnic which was held at the Green River Plantation Wednesday, had more than 200 present for the occasion. 4-H Club \nembers, adult lead ers and parents heard Dr. George F. Taylor of Tryon discuss (1) Good Health, the importance and care of a good physical body; (2) What’s on your mind? How’s your ability to speak. Good English necessary to success. (3) Goodbye, God be with. you. In the presence of God conscience is clear and follows disciples of Christ. Immediately after Dr. Taylor’s talk Seth Viining of the Kiwanis Club and L. K. Singley of the Rotary Club extended greetings, urging each member to keep the good work going—that the clubs were keeping up with the various activities and accomplishments this organization is doing in Polk Countv. The program began at 2:30 p. m. with community singing and folk games, directed by the Farm and Home Agents, and continued until the main program, which be gan about 4 o’clock. Results of the Canning Con test were: Senior Club—1st, Lois Jolley, Mill Spring Club; 2nd, Eula Pack, Mill Spring Club; 3rd, Laura Jean Ormand, Columbus Club. Junior Club—1st, Jean Slhytle, Green Creek Club; 2nd, Rache1 Horne, Green Creek Club; 3rd, Patsy Fagan, Sunny View Club. As an extra community activity 4-H Club girls contributed ore one quart jar of vegetable and one quart jar of fruit to the St. Luke’s hospital. 26 girls entered the contest. Others will give jars at September and October club meetings. Merchants and business men of Tryon gave the prizes. Miss Sue Koon, Home Agent, and Miss Mary Anne PiDkin. Assistant Home Ag ent of Rutherford County were judges of the contest. Just before going home, and a highlight of the program, a de licious supper was spread on a table beneath large beach trees.— Gladys Hamrick, Home Agent.
