In regard to the article pre
viously printed in The Tryon Daily
Bulletin whereby all meats enter
ing the freezer-docker must be
graded and marked. We wish to
state that locker users may con
tinue to bring in their meats for
processing and stoiing as before
subject to the following regula
tions :
If the locker holder takes any
meat in wholesale cuts or smaller
to the locker plant, said meat may
be stored and frozen without grad
ing and marking. This means that
the locker user may purchase
steaks or chops, etc., and bring
them in for processing.
Should you wish to bring a whole
carcass to the locker plant, said
carcass must be graded and mark
ed according to OPA regulations
as follows: AA-choice; A-good;
B-commercial; C-utility; and D
for cutter and canner. All locker
holders using meat for their own
use will have their meat graded
and marked at their request by
the locker operators for which ser
vice a charge of 12 V2C a hundred
pounds will be made.
No meat will be accepted by this
locker plant for re-sale purposes
without official government inspec
tor’s stamp and grade mark.
It is not necessary to grade and
mark pork, but all beef, veal and
lamb must be so graded and
marked.
We have been advised that the
OPA will enforce these regulations
and it is our urgent request that
locker holders comply with these
regulations for their own protec
tion and satisfaction.
