Hallowe’en Rulers To Be Crowned By Mayor •The three regal couples who will rule over the Hallowe’en ghosts, goblins, witches and what-nots at the Tryon school Carnival this Thursday evening will be crowned during the festivities by Mayor F. P. Bacon. The coronation cere monies will climax the evening. The latest ballot count shows that the following candidates for the coveted honors are leading in their respective departments: For kings—Edwin Cromer, high school; Steve Blackwell, grammar grades; Shields Flynn, primary grades. For queens—Mary Hooker, high school; Arminta Barber, grammar grades; Jane Ford, primary grades While members of the student body have rallied enthusiastically in support of their favorite candi dates, balloting by parents and friends among the general public has been slow, according to Mrs Charles C. West, director of the popularity contest. This, she points out, is regrettable, as pro ceeds from the Carnival go toward the purchase of physical education and recreational equipment that would be otherwise unobtainable. The popularity contest votes cost but a penny each. The value of supervised Hallowe’en activities is inestimable. LOST: Billfold containing money, drivers license, and tA^ar papers.
