COLENA HILL IS WED TO PAUL SMITH Miss Colena Estelle Hill, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bynum J. Hill of Mills River, was married to Paul Thomas Smith of Tryon, son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Smith of Columbus, on Thursday after noon at 3 o’clock in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Mills River. The Rev H. D. Cohn, performed the double ring ceremony. The church was lighted by can dles and decorated with evergreens, holly and baskets of white gladi olus and candelabra holding light ed tapers. . . , Miss Mildred Fain, pianist of Hendersonville, and Fred Powell of Tryon, vocalist, presented a pro gram of music. The candles were lighted by Miss Dorothy Hodges of Hodges, S. C., and Miss Evelyn Lanning of Arden. The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a suit of winter white wool with matching hat and carried a white Bible on which rested a purple orchid Miss Lavinia Green of Tryon, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gray suit with black accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. Miss Juanita Wil liams of Arden, was the brides maid. She wore a blue suit with a corsage of white carnations. Clarence Smith of Tryon, broth er of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Thurston Ar ledge, P. C. Lancaster, brother-in law of the bridegroom; Harold Newman and Byron Rector, all of Tryon. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The house was decorated with ever greens and the table was centered by a wedding cake. Mrs. O. H. Fain, Mrs. Byron Rector and Miss Georgia Mae Fain assisted in serving. The mother of the bride wore blue velvet with a corsage of red roses. The bridegroom’s mother was unable to attend due to illness. After the service the couple left bv motor for Florida. For traveling the bride changed into a black gabardine suit with the orchid from her Bible. They will reside in Tryon. The bride was educated in the Mills River High school and West ern Carolina Teachers’ college. She is now teaching in the Tryon school. Mr. Smith was educated in Co lumbus and recently received his discharge from the U. S. Navy. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding were: James Smith, Colum bus, father of the bridegroom; Mr, and Mrs. Harvey Gosnell of Cam pobello, S .C., brother-in-law and sister of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Green of Landrum, S C., brother-in-law and sister■ of Jhe bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Wfc Lancaster of Trvon. brother-irl JR and sister of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith of Tryon, brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom; Cecil Smith, United States Army, Ralph Smith, Co lumbus, brothers of the bride groom; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Green, uncle and aunt of the bride; Mrs. Jessie Mayes, Columbus, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Pred D- Ar ledge of Saluda, aunt of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Hill of East Flat Rock, uncle and aunt of the bride; Mrs. J. B. Shuman of Hen dersonville, Marvin Edwards of Tryon, Linn Gowdy and Edward C.
