C„ MONDAY, JAN. 13TH, 1947 Weather Friday: High 50, low 26; Saturday high 58, low 22; Sun day high 69, low 44, rain .85 . That rain was a Saturday night record ing. Sunday was one of the pret iest days ever seen in Tryon . Red dy Kilowatt visits the teen age canteen according to an Ad of the Duke Power Co. in today’s Bul letin. This picture of Reddy dan cing with the girl in a plaid dress was cast for the Bulletin by teen ager Walter Fortune. Miss Caro lyn Flyijn of the Duke Power Co. brought the Ad to the office in the tm*of a paper mold called a mat. )lter put this mold in an iron 1 and poured hot metal on it to get an impression of what was on the mold so it could be printed in the Bulletin. And that’s the way pictures are made in the Bul letin office. Of course before that an artist makes a drawing’ which is turned into a mat in Charlotte or some ofther big city and sent to us in that form The Duke Pow er Co. advertisements which ap peared in the Bulletin last year won first place in the United States for utility advertising. A national magazine, “Public Util ity Ad-Views” made a survey of advertising in newspapers all over the nation. Jonas Martin, editor of _Continued on Back Page_: MOTHER AND DAUGHTER HELD IN GUN DEATH Sheriff W. D. Hines reported to day that Mrs. Rosa Galloway Mc Falls and her daughter, Mrs, Ber tha Mason, are being held without bond in the Polk County jail where they were taken Saturday, pend ing further investigation into the death of Charles William McFalls, 67. The estranged husband of Mrs. McFalls, was found dead at the home of his daughter, in the Story apartment building, formerly the Lynn school building at Lynn. Sheriff Hines said no bond will be issued the two according to in struction from Solicitor Clarence O. Ridings. Sheriff Hines further stated that the situation looks as if foul play were involved. Investigating officers stated that McFalls was instantly killed with a shotgun, the entire charge entering the man’s head from behind. W. C. Dedman, a near-by resident, who arrived at the scene just a few seconds after hearing the re port of the shotgun, stated before a coroner’s jury Saturday that Mrs. McFalls was standing over the body looking down at tne gun which lay beside the victim. Cor oner Dr. William St. J. Jervey, stated that the death of McFalls doesn’t look as if he committed suicide, although he may have ac cidentally discharged the gun. The jury returned a verdict that the two women be held for further investigation and grand jury ac tion. Sheriff Hines stated Sunday afternoon that no further evidence in the case had been uncovered.
