CARTER GIVES TALK TO BETA CLUB The members of the Beta Club had a pleasant surprise Tuesday night at their meeting at Mrs. K. A. Bowen’s Mrs. Rutledge Carter, who is a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in Journalism, was the guest speaker. Since journalism is being studied in the Beta Club, her discussion was very interesting and enjoyable. She gave helpful advice to those who are consider ing journalism as a career and ■told of some very interesting ex periences she had had while work ing on both daily and weekly newspapers.—School Reporter. Moran has received news of the death of his closest friend, Frank Shannon, at Mayo clinic. Funeral service for Mr. Shannon is being held this afternoon at the court house at Pineville, W. V.a. He was formerly mayor of Pine ville and prosecuting attorney for nearl 16 years of Wyoming Coun ty, W. Va.
