HORSE SHOW JUDGES HAVE BEEN NAMED At the meeting of the Tryon Horse Show officials Thursday night at Pacolet Plantation, Chair man C. B. Sweatt of the Classes Committee announced the names of the judges for this year as follows: Gaited Horses, Dr. Earl I. Carr, of Lansing, Michigan. For Hunters and Jumpers, Judges Allen Case and Warner Baltazzi of Aiken, S. C. HONOR COURT MONDAY The Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor will he held Mon day night at 8 o’clock at the school auditorium. Billy Baker will be awarded the Eagle rank, the highest in Scouting. The Eagle badge will be pinned on him by his mother, Mrs. J. M. Baker. Then he will pin a miniature badge on her in recognition of the part a mother plays in the ad vancement of a Scout. NO MASONIC MEETING The Jeff L. Nelson Masonic Lodge will not meet Monday on account of the meting held last Monday taking its place. Hospital Visiting- Sunday Sunday, April 13th, is the date set for solicitors to call on friends of St. Luke’s Hospital who have pot sent in their contribution. Every donation or pledge sent in saves from 10 to 20 minutes time of two solicitors and releases them to visit others who have forgotten. Checks or pledges may be sent to Dudley C. Smith, Treasurer, St. Luke’s Hospital. If they are sent in by Saturday it will save some body from calling unnecessarily. BUYS FARM IN POLK Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Phillips have bought the Walker Farm near Columbus from F. P. Bacon. It contains about 27 acres. Sale made through Bridgeman & Smith. Mrs. John T. Hutcherson of Columbus is a patient at St. Luke’s hospital. TEA AT COUNTRY CLUB Members of the Tryon Country Club and their> guests (visitors in the community) will be entertained at tea Saturday afternoon at the Club House from 4 to 6 o’clock. COUNTY SEAT NEWS Mrs. Lindsey Taylor, for some time a patient at Sit. Luke’s hos pital, has returned to her home much improved. W. L. Harper, former soil con servation direcotr in Polk County, resigned last week and has moved his family to his farm in Macon County. Mr. and Mrs. Harper have been very active in civic^B^^ religious work and will be mn^P^* in our town. Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson had all their children home for Easter the first time in a number of years. Bob arrived last week from Ger many, making the family circle complete. SALUDA NEWS NOTES The Saluda Book Club had one of its pleasantest meetings on Tuesday afternoon at “Ivy Ter race” at the home of Mrs. L. L. Clippard. Mrs. Henry Clippard was hostess and gave the book review. She chose “Spring” for her topic and instead of the regu lar book review, she gave, most delightfully, excerpts from “An other April” by^Jessie Stewart, “Follow Your Nose”, “Crass Creek” by Rawlings, and ture” by David Thoreau freshments were served in the pleasant dining rooms of “Ivy Terrace”. There were 14 members present and three guests, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. John Taylor and Mrs. J. C. Crawford.
