WEATHER SPECIAL If there is anyone disgusted with Tryon’s winter weather the past three months we would like to refer them to the kind of weather they have been having at Sherwood Farms, Bristol, Ver mont. A letter was written to Professor W. F. Bryan, by a friend. Here it is in part: “There is little to record here except the damnedest winter that the place has seen in years. After February had piled up an unusual amount of snow, and incidentally left the town snow plow out of commission in our dooryard, March came in with a roar and a wind that bowled me over on my back when I tried to step out into it. It left drifts ten feet and over between us and the bottom of the hill and our only resource was snow shoes. After wearing our selves out trying to lug stuff up on snowshoes we got a sled through with a load that insured us so we have been completely all right but a little amazed at what the place could think up for us. Since then it has rained and snowed and completed our isolation. Men came up on snowshoes to repair the plow and it finally left us one afternoon to take six hours to reach the bottom of the hill and then give up the ghost, and at that it had had to go over drifts rather than through them. But a bull dozer finally after three weeks cleared things up so that we could get the car down and leave it at the bottom of the hill. So present procedures are to walk down and pick up the car when we have to go anywhere. But we haven’t been tempted as there have been few signs of robins two weeks over due. This morning the snow is FQR SALE: Water Puipps, deep and shallow; Paint Sfrray Outfits; Whizzer Bad? Motors, Automatic for Ironers /ap'd Fans, etc. Electric motors and wash ing machines repaired. But you can imagine that we are a little fed up with snow now that we have had enough for boasting purposes.” [Paid Reading Notices] FOR MAYOR I hereby announce my candidacy for Mayor of the Town of Tgyon in the Municipal Electioiy o^TVlay 6, 1947. ]/ C.
