A unique ceremony and one which any father would be justly proud, was the induction of John Gordon Gibbs of Raleigh as a Master Mason in the Jeff1 L. Nelson Masonic Lodge No. 605 in Tryon Monday night. The father, __Continued on Back Page__ BONEY JACKSON Landrum, June 16.—Boney Jack son, 79, died at his home here Monday night following an illness of 3 years duration. He was a native of Polk County, N. C., and had made his home at Landrum for only a short time. Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Asbury Jackson and Sally MjcMurray Jackson. He was a member of the Pacolet Hills Bap tist Church, Polk County. Surviving are his wife; 2 daugh ters, Mrs. Ray C. Walker of Mill Spring, and Mrs. Hazel Jackson Glenn of Landrum; and 3 grand children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday from the Mill Spring Baptist Church at 3 p. m., with ministers Clarence Tucker, T. E. Reid, Robert Early and Robert A. Brooks officiating. Pallbearers: James Smith, Wal ter Horton, John Walker, Martin Walker, Frank Jackson, Frank ! Edwards. _ | Directors Meet Tonight The Directors of the Tryon I Chamber of Commerce will meet 1 tonight for their regular monthly meeting. SOFTBALL NEWS The Blue Ridge Weavers defeat ed the Firemen 14 to 8 Monday evening. The Blue Ridge Weavers play Adams-Millis this afternoon and on Wednesday the Blue Ridge Weavers play the Baptists at 4:30 and at 6:30 the Methodists play Adams-Millis.
