This mountain air is still tops in the nation for year ’round comfort. The Trowbridges (“Ev erybody knows the Trowbridges; no first names mentioned”) write from Lake Placid Club in the Ad rg^jdacks, “It would please Charlie VyJMi and Wayne Creasman to know that during the first three weeKs we were up nere it was more sizzling hot J;han we have ever known Tryon to be—and nev er even cooled off at night.” ... Thg British are seeking relief 'from part of its burden of gov erning Germany. The Russians want a world police force (prob ably made up of Russians). Sena tor Clyde R. Hoey .agrees with The Bulletin policy, that increased production is the solution to our economic problem when there are shortages or whe prices are too high. Senator Umstead says co operation of industry, labor and government is needed now to avoid, economic troubles ahead. Stassen -Continued on Back Page..._ AT KIWANIS TUESDAY Kenneth Sanders had charge of the Tryon Kiwanis Club pro gram Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall and presented Dr. Rebekah Gibbons, formerly head of the Nu tritional Division of the Univer sity of Nebraska. She gave an outline of some of the advantages and problems of preparing, freez ing and defrosting frozen foods. She believed every family should have a home freezer or locker in the freezer locker plant. Chas. J. Lynch reported the ad ditions of a wheel chair and two more crutches for use of invalids. Guests at the meeting included Farry Barber of Hendersonville, who has a 17-year perfect atttend ance record; Wesley Lewis of Greenville, S. C., Col. Wm. A. Schilletter and Herbert Thatcher of Tryon. Melvin Hill Man Directs Church Program Galen B. Crist (Melvin Hill) has been appointed district direc tor of the “Advance With Christ” program of the Church of the Brethren, according to an announ cement; received here from the gen eral headquarters ‘ of the church in Elgin, 111. Crist’s region covers the states of North and South Carolina. The “Advance With Christ” pro gram, which was adopted by the church* at the recent annual con ference in Florida, is an effort to ‘'translate faith into more aggres sive action.” Regional and local directors are being appointed to awaken individual churches to their responsibility in the program. _Continued on Back Paige—a.
