SALUDA NEWS Reported bv Miss R. E. Blair The Saluda P.-T. A. met on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the new au ditorium of the Saluda school. Beautiful in its new draperies of blue and gold. Mrs. G. L. Thomp son presided at this her first meeting. The Treasurer Mrs. W. G. Egerton, reported $493 i n the treasury. The P.-T. A. is having the small piano reconditioned for use in the grammar grades build ing. A motion was made and carried to install an electric bell in the grammar school. A com mittee with Mrs. Roy L. Johnson, as chairman, was appointed to plan a school lunch program for the coming year. The members of the P.-T. A. volunteered to donate one day s work a week lor the lunch room. Any member who wishes to contribute to this project please call Mrs. Roy L. Johnson or Mrs. G. L. Thompson. The Woman's Auxiliary of the Episcopal Church held its monthly meeting at the residence of Miss Virginia Green, president, on Wed nesday. Plans for Thanksgiving boxes, et cetera, to be sent in the district were considered. The an nual fall meeting of the Second District being held in Tryon on Nov. 7, was also considered. Mrs. Halcott Green and Miss Virginia Green will represent the Saluda Auxiliary. This- latter meeting was held at the Church of the Holy Cross. Rev. Wm. T. Capers, Jr., rector of the church, opening the meeting and stating that the most impor tant matter to be considered a this time was the election of a successor to the Rt. Rev. Robert Emmet Gribbin whose resignation as bish op of the Diocese on account of ill health, had been most reluctantly accepted. A prayer, authorized by the Standing Committee of the Diocese of W. N. C. to be used until a successor to 'Rev. Gribbin had been chosen, was given to those present. The usual business of the Auxiliary was transacted and was followed by a delightful luncheon and social- hour. The women of the Tryon Auxiliary were most gracious and hospitable. Mrs. Henry Garwes has a little son born at Patton Memorial hos pital on Friday, Nov. 7. We un derstand he is to be called Francis Barrington.
