I. Henderson of Tryon has been appointed com mander of the 33rd North Carolina American Legion district to suc ceed Nathan Patla, deceased, of Hendersonville, according to an an nouncement by State Department Commander Ray Galloway of Wil mington. The S'-ate Commander also ap pointed Keith A. Arledge of Hen dersonville to be vice-commander. 20,000 F. F.*Stockholders Get Semi-Annual Pay The executive committee of the directors of the Farmers Federa tion Wednesday declared a semi annual dividend on preferred and rommon stock payable January 1, 1948, to all stockholders of record Dec. 15, 1947, it wa= announced hy James G. K. McClure, presi dent of the organization. ~ McClure pointed out that this will be th° 28th consecutive semi annual dividend to be paid. There were more than 20,000 members of the federation as of July 1. 1947 and there has been a considerable increase since that tim®, McClure said. The Farmers Federation was /Organized 27 nears ago to create market facilities and 'services which will dQ,,elop agricultural production in Western North Caro lina. Beginning in a small way with a handful of farmers and one warehouse, the organization has crown +o 26 war°house« w;th more than 20 000 members.
