TRYON CITIZENS BUY STOCK OF BANK HERE A group of citizens have pur chased the controlling stock of the Tryon Bank & Trust Co., from Edwin Duncan of North Wilkes boro, executive vice-president of the Northwestern ' Branch Bank system. Mr. Duncan acquired his con trolling interest from Julian B. Hester in April 1946, and with 13 other stockholders owned the en tire stock of 25 shares. The directors of the bank felt it to be the best interests of the community and of the bank for the stock to be shared by more people in the community and upon that basis friends of the bank were in vited to buy the stock of Mr. Duncan. The entire stock of the bank is now owned by 44 friends of the community instead of 14. The- bank has enjoyed a steady growth under able leadership and has grown into a two million dollar institution. The • present officers are as follows: W. C. Ward, President; C. M. Howes..
