Country Club Officers For 1948 Are Elected At a meeting of the directors of the Tryon Golf & Tennis Club this week, Robert L. Dick, was elected president, to succeed K. A. Bowen; Seth M. Vining was elected vice-president to succeed W. M. Spivey, whose term had expired; R. R. Benham was re-elected sec retary-treasurer. Mr. Dick was secretary and treasurer of the club for several years, and is a past president of the Tryon Kiwanis club. He has been an officer in the Presbyterian Church, the Boy Scouts and other civic organizations. He is secre tary of Jackson & Jackson. Tryon School Holidays The spring holidays for the Tryon City Schools will be on Thursday and Friday of Easter week-end, which is the 25th and 26th of March. There will also be an additional holiday on Wed nesday of-Horse Show week.—L. K. Singley, Supt. Dr. H. M. Reese, retired pro fessor of physics at the University of Missouri, Columbia, is in Try on prospecting, and is a guest of Oak Hall. Mrs. Reese was here a few weeks ago. Dr. Reese is a native of Baltimore, Md., and a graduate of Johns Hopkins Uni versity. He will be here until Monday. News has been received in Try on of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mirs. Roy F. Heath, nee Alice Clark, at Sarasota, Fla., early this morning. Mrs. R. H. Millikin, Mrs. Heath’s aunt, will go to Florida this week for a visit. “That is right, John Landrum, of Landrum, has one of those California gold watches. I have not seen it, but my wife and Miss Ethel Robinson told me they saw it the other day, when John pulled it out of the bank vault for their inspection.
