When it was stated in this column that a man moved away because there was no one to play chess with him, a number of people have signified their interest in chess. There is the possibility of starting a chess club. Among those interested are R. F. An drews of Landrum; Rev. George W. Hayward and J. S. Brown of Try on; James P. Egerton and son, Nick, and also Bob Foster, Jr., of Mill Spring .... Tryon Town government are to be congratulated on getting several- streets hard surfaced before cold weather sets in. Streets hardsurfaced include Pacolet in front of the new post office; Whitney avenue on Godshaw Hill; School street from the high way to school; Markham Road from Grady avenue to cemetery; Howard street hill in front of B. Scarborough, pastor of the Tryon First Baptist church, has returned from the Baptist State Convention which met in Charlotte. The convention meets next year in Raleigh. Rev. Zeno Green of Saluda re turned to his home last Friday from the Patton Memorial hospital in Hendersonville, where he had his tonsils removed. In Asheville Wednesday Charles Muench who will conduct the Orchestre National of France at the Ashevilie City Auditorium Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 8:30, under the sponsorship ol the Junior, League. Tickets are on sale at Village Library, 32 Battery Park Avenue, Asheville. Mr. Muench has been guest con ductor for New York Philharmonic Symphony and major orchestras in Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Minneapolis. He. will succeed Serge Koussevitsky as conductor of the Boston Orchestra. its early stages, TB usually has no outside symptoms. Only an X-ray tells you the "inside story"!
