MISS FRANCES HELMS PRESENTED IN CONCERT Miss Frances Helms, lyric dramatic soprano, was presented in a concert Tuesday evening, Dec. 7, in the auditorium of Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, N. C. Her accompanist was Mrs. Elma Randall, college music direc tor. The program was as follows: “Morning”, by Oley Speaks; “An Eriskay Love Lilt,” by M. Ken nedy-Fraser and Kenneth Macleod; “Mah Lindy Lou,” by Lily Strick land; “Villanelle,” by Eva Dell’ Acqua; “Quando me’n vo soletta ner la via”—from a Boheme, by Puccini; “Mattinata,” by Rug *Spero Leoncavallo; “Romance”— from the Desert Song, by Sigmund Romberg; “Cantique de Noel”, by Adam; and as a special request “The Star of Bethlehem,” by Adams. Mrs. Randall played “The Raindrop Prelude”, by F. Chopin. Miss Helms sang the following encores: “I Love Life”, by Mauna Zucca; “Cherry Ripe”, by Charles Edward Horn, which she dedicated to her grandfather, Dr. R. D. Jennings; “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin; and “For You”, by Burke, dedicated to her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. R. Edward Jennings. Miss Helms is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud H. Helms of Morganton. She received her musi cal education at Brenau College, Gainesville, Ga.; and also studied with Dr. Arthur Billings Hunt of New York City.
