A REPORT TO FRIENDS ' The Christmas party was a huge success. Starting with the five girls carrying baskets, trimmed with pine spray, snowballs and Christmas tinsel ornaments, over fllowing with presents, they enter ed the wards and private rooms at Oteen Veterans Hospital to the accompaniment of music made by Lefty Flynn’s guitar and Nora and Lefty singing. The girls were Ruth Wick, Izzy Brannon, Betty Donald, Virginia Donald, Virginia O’Neil and Edith Hill. They pinned huge red bows, from which hung a cluster of red bells, on every door. And then went back to decorate the beautiful Christmas tree. They were helped by the patients who were able to be up in their wheel chairs or othr wise. When Nora and Lefty came back from entertaining the bed patients they nut on a show in front of the Christmas tree that would have warmed your heatrs, and we left with a feeling of the greatest gratitude that with the help of all our Red Cross friends in Polk County we had been able to add some Christmas Cheer to the veterans at the hospital. Besides our thanks to ali those who contribute to the Red Cross we wish to thank Mr. and Mrs. Bacon for their cooperation and Mr. L. C. Porter who made the attractive sign for our Red Cross window.—Polk County Red Cross Volunteer Services, Mlrs. Walter C. Hill, Chairman.
