LANIER LIBRARY TO
OPEN THURSDAY
Completely redecorated, and so
much brighter and more cheerful,
the Lanier Library will reopen on
Thursday, Dec. 23. All books over
due to that date will be accepted
without fines. Miss Jacqueline
Sprinkle, the librarian, will be
there at the regular hours, 10:30
to 12:30 and 2 to 4:30.
Through the generosity of the
late Miss Louisa Pitkin, always a
good friend to the library, the
Lanier Club has been able to re
decorate, refinish the floors and
make some very necessary repairs
and improvements. A new book
section will be added with Miss
Pitkin’s name carved on the top
panel. An important innovation is
fluorescent lighting in the main
room, and the kitchen, now no
longer necessary as the club meet
ings are held elsewhere, will be
made into a special room for chil
dren’s books.
Miss Sprinkle will welcome pa
trons and visitors to the library,
which is for the use of the pub
1 ic.—Contributed.
Miss Dorothy Blackwell has re
turned home for Christmas holi
days from Lexington, Ky., where
she has" been going to high school.
Miss Elena Garcia will leave on
Friday for Washington, D. C., to
spend the Christmas holidays with
her family.
