They have been saving for the after Christmas sales that are advertised in The Bulletin during January. Schools opened this morning and so did all the governmental agen cies in the county. Things will be underway by the end of the week. The young folks will be through with all their parties in cluding the big New Year’s Eve |nce at Sunnydale Friday . . . Jre Tryon Hounds will ride to the rye Farm Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Some members of the American Legion and the colored families who live., in the cove back of the Episcopal church are complaining about the condi -Continued on Back Page_ POLK MAN FOUND FROZEN TO DEATH John Clayton Brown, 82, of Mills Spring Route No. 2, Monday morn ing was found frozen to death on a back road of the Cooper’s Gap section of Polk County. Coroner James E. Johnson, who investigated Mr. Brown’s death, along "with Deputy Sheriff Ken neth Melton and Claude Scoggins, said no evidence of “foul play” was found. Mr. Brown, a semi-invalid for a number of years, lived alone in the Cooper’s Gap section. The coroner said it was assumed he had fallen in the road during the sleet storm Friday night between 8 and 9 while en route to a neighbor’s house. Mr. Brown was last seen alive late Friday afternoon, Mr. Johnson said. No inquest will be held. Funeral services will be con ducted Tuesday at 2 at Cooper’s Gap Baptist Church by the Rev. George Lynch. Burial in the church cemetery. Surviving are: 2 brothers, T. B. Brown of Mills Spring Route 2 and W. F. Brown of Rutherford ton, NT. C., Route 3; one sister, Mrs. Ella McCombs of Finger ville, S. C., and several nieces and nephews. McFarland’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
