In an address before the Tryon Rotary club Fri day, J. T. CKiott, president of the Asheville Board of Realtors, de nounced the Communistic rent con trol administration which is pre venting the private investment in housing and the improvement of much present property which is get tdelapidated because owners afford to repair it and get y back .... Tryon Kiwanians meet Thursday night at 6 o’clock at Missildine’s Pharmacy and go in cars to Rutherford ton for a joint meet there at 7 o’clock. . . . . Today is George Washing ton’s birtrday. Yesterday was Miss Irene Flentye’s 70th birthday and a large number of friends, be tween 35 and 40, gave her a sur prise party with birthday cakes, refreshments and gifts. And there will be many other friends _Continued on Back Page_ POLK COUNTY WOMAN KILLED IN ROAD MISHAP Mrs. Millie Rollins Bradley, 69, was killed Monday at 11:30 a. m. when struck by an automobile while sweeping the walkway in front of her home near here. A comoner’s jury Monday night ordered Boyce Jackson, about 21, of Mill Spring held under $2,500 bond for appearance at the August term of Polk County Superior Court for grand jury investigation in connection with the death. The inquest was held at Columbus with Coroner James E. Johnson in charge. Officers and witneses said that the car allegedly driven by Jackson was traveling toward Tryon and that the vehicle went out of con trol on a curve approaching the dwelling. Officers said tire marks were visible for 300 feet. Ed Mitchell, Negro, driver of a wagon and the only eye witness, said that he shouted at Mrs. Bradley and leaped from his wagon' when he saw the car approaching. Sheriff W. D. Hines, Deputy Ken Melton and State Highway Patrolman Jack D. Cabe investigat ed the mishap. Mrs. Bradley, widow of Boney Bradley, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital here, hut was pronounced dead on arrival. Surviving are two half-brothers, Jake and William Rollins of Black Mountain and one half-sister, Mrs. Kav Allison of Thomasville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Pacolet Baptist church in Lynn, with the Rev. Ralph Ban ning, officiating. _ontinu 3d on Back Page
