He also received the John Brown Award for greatest advancement in Scouting. He is a student at Reynolds High School And works part time in addition to his extra curricular activities. . . . Winners of Thursday’s tournament held at the Congregational church house were, North-South, first, Miss Gladys Lyles and Miss Mary Anderson of Spartanburg; second, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Crawford of Asheville; East West, first, Mrs. Ernest Halstead and C. E. Harris of Spartanburg: second, Mrs. Kate Williamson and R. R. Benham. Last week’s 10 tables is an indication of the in terest carried on by the Tryon And visiting bridge players since the first duplicate bridge tourna ment was put on at the Country Club almost two years ago by Jimmy Jackson and several others. Her birth day is the 18th of March. Several days ago The Asheville Citizen had a brief article on World Peace written by Mrs. Banning under the sponsorship of the United World Federalists and the intro duction stated that she spent part of each year at her Tryon home.
