The Rev. James B. Neil, pastor
of the First Baptist Church, re
turned home from the Baptist hos
pital in Columbia, S. C., Thurs
day, July 7th, where he has been
a patient for over 5 weeks. In
the pastor’s absence, the Rev. G.
T. Stapleton of Charlotte has been
supplying the pulpit in both morn
ing and evening services. Mr.
Stapleton is teaching in Fruitland
Institute near Hendersonville this
summer.
Mrs. Boyce Bagwell and children
have returned home from a visit
with her mother, Mrs. K. A.
Browning, in Williamston, S. C.
Buford Lawrance has accepted
a position in Monroe, N. C., and
Mrs. Lawrence and the children
joined him there last week where
they now reside.
Mrs. C. R. Stringer of Avon,
Conn., is visiting her sisters, Mrs.
E. O. Gilmore and Miss Margaret
Bomar en route to California where
she will fill portrait commissions
in San Frfticisco, Santa Barbara
and Beverly Hills. Mrs. Stringer
and her sisters had as their lun
cheon guests on Tuesday, Mrs.
James Key of Columbus, Ga., and
