Perlman is a retired naval officer and during the Guadalcanal campaign was in command of the hospital ship “Solace” which evac uated wounded from the forward area to the naval hospitals in New Zealand. Mrs. James Gathings and daugh ter, Betsy, have returned to their home at Lewisburg, Pa., after a visit in Landrum with Mrs. Gam ings’ mother, Mrs. Bessie Daniel. Mrs. Daniel accompanied them to Lewisburg which is 9 miles from Sunbury, Pa., where Mrs. C. W. Kittrell is a patient with a broken leg as the result of a fall\ while riding the train to Meadville, Pa., to visit her son, John "Kittrell, and family. Mrs. Daniel and the Gathings have been over to see Mrs. Kittrell and report that she is resting comfortably and will be at Sunbury, Pa., Community Hospital at least a week longer.
