C—Here are the most important tilings for World War II veterans to remember when applying for their National Ser vice Life Insurance dividend, ac cording to J. M. Caldwell, director of N. C. Veterans Commission. No. 1—Wait until Aug. 29 before doing anything. 2. Fill out and sign a dividend application form from one of the offices of the local County Veter ans Service Officers or from any local veterans organization or any post officers. .No. 3. Read the first section of the form, which is devoted to in structions, and decide whether the procedure is understood. If not, ask fye County Service Officer or volunteer veterans service worker for help1 in filling it out correctly. (This will mean more prompt ac tion, on the part of the VA, and a quicker monetary return of the veteran). No. 4. When filling out the form, be as neat as possible, especially in name, spelling and address list ing. Be sure to list an address at which mail can be received for the 6-month period following the date of application. No. 5. If the veteran does not remember his policy number, which is requested on the blank, don’t worry about it. The VA wants these numbers for ready reference, but they are hot essential. There is also a blank space for veterans to write in their “claim numbers,” if any. If a veteran has been issued such a number, the'Service Officer will have it in the vet’s record. If none was issued, forget it. The VA has the name, rank and serial number of every eligible veteran. No. 6. Once the application is in the mail, don’t worry about how soon payment will be made, and don’t use the anticipated amount as a promissory note for "personal debts. The VA have about 17,0.00, 000 veteran’s records to check, so individual correspondence will only delay YOUR dividend. Beneficiaries of deceased veterans who are entitled to a share of the refund need not bother with the form. They will. be maile<L»a check by the VA. Veterans may clip out this tide to serve as $ guide in Applying for the dividends. Do not clip rep resented forms from ' newspaper and submit them, however. Only the government printed cardboard forms will be accepted and' pro cessed. The local County Service Office and District Service Offices of, the N. C. Veterans Commission will be glad to aid veterans in filing for the NSLI refund, and so will post officers of all the vet eran’s organizations or their rep resentatives.
