ganization. A faithful choir mem
ber, chairman of the church board
of trustees, author of religious
papers, lecturer in religious schools,
supply pastor for numerous church
es of different denominations he
gave himselft*where he was needed
most. He has directed Red Cross
drives, headed Council of Social
Agencies arid during the war helped
to promote recreation for service
men visiting in the community. In
1935 when the depression was
about to close St. Luke’s Hospital
he was called in to head a drive
for funds’ from everybody in order
to keep the hospital, going. H's
executive ability in marshalling the
forces of the community to aid the
hospital made him the ideal suc
cessor for the first vacancy on the
hospital board. His continued in
terest and work made him the
unanimous choice for president
when that office became vacant.
Were it possible to record the ap
preciation in the hearts of the
many who have benefitted from his
work we could award him a medal
for distinguished service that
would be the envy of all men.
