GEORGE W. GOSNELL Inman. — George Washington Gosnell, 74, died Wednesday in a Spartanburg hospital following a long illness. Mr. Gosnell was born and reared in Greenville County, a son of the late Francis and Carolina Moss Gosnell. He had lived in Spar tanburg County for the past 50 years. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Daisy Dehorn; 3 sons, John and Horace of Inman Route 3, and George of Hickory, N. C.; 5 daugh ters, Mrs. Mae Steadman of Lan drum, Mrs. Elsie and Mrs. Nettie Johnson of Saluda, N. C., Mrs. Myrtis McCrane of Asheville, N. C., and Mrs. Tee Pittman of Hick ory, jn. <j.; a nrotners, jonn oi Chesnee Route 1 and Marion and Jessie of Landrum Route 2; 7 sisters, Mrs. Katherine Ballew, Mrs. Amanda Morris, Mrs. Martha Pierce, Mrs. Eliza Pruitt, Mrs. Lin da Plumley and Mrs. Holly Camp bell of Landrum and Mrs. Bessie Belue of Greenville. Funeral services will be conduct ed Friday at 10 a. m., at Ingleside Baptist Church near Landrum. The Revs. A. T. Howard and War ner Milliner will officiate. Burial in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pall bearers. After 10 a. m. Thursday the body will be at the home of a son, John, till the funeral hour. Petty Funeral Home of Land rum is in charge of arrangements. —The Spartanburg Herald. “Citizen .Byrnes” In Landrum Manager Smith of the Civic Theatre, Landrum, states, that he has secured the special short film, “Citizen Byrnes” to be shown in addition to his regular feature on Thursday and Friday of this week. “Citizen Byrnes” is a film trib ute to the success of James F. Byrnes and was promoted by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Cor poration more than a year ago to show how in America a poor boy can rise to fame, fortune and po sition of honor and great service to Ms country. “Films already in existence show ing different phases of Mr. Byrnes’ career in public life as a member of Congress, director of war mobilization, a member of the United States Supreme Court and secretary of state have been as sembled and make into one pic ture.” LANDRUM NEWS NOTES By Margaret H. Bomar. The Landrum J. H. A. spent three days last week at Fall Beach, S. C. The group included Misses Jo Ann Hudgins, Shirley Rogers, Beverly Gilmore, Irene Solesbee, Laura Hill, Barbara Ann Crain, Sarah Page, Dorothy Tucker, Phoebe Littlefield, Adele Beden baugh, Rachel Calbert, Dixie Fish er, Shirley High, Pearl Green way, Jane and Dell Bridgeman.
