SALUDA NEWS NOTES _Continued from Page One Sunday. Rev. Hugh Pollard held a ses sion meeting at the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday night with the elders, A. Covington, Roy Baisden, Edwin Leland. Arthur Martin of San Angelo, Texas, is visiting his sister, Miss Elizabeth Martin, this week. Mrs. Sid Walton spent last week at her cottage in Saluda and had her mother and her daughter with her for a visit. _ Mrs. Annie Bell Me Cobb of Day tona Beach, Fla., left this week after a 3 weeks' visit with Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gilbert. Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Arledge Jr., and daughter, Barbara Ray. of Asheville, visited Mr .and Mrs. Spurgeon Arledge Sr., last Sun day. Mrs. Sam Summey is ill at her home on Depot Street. Little Tommy Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gilbert is improving after a tonsilitis attack. A large number of people from here attended the Hipp reunion at Dana Sunday. Mrs. J. F. Haigler, who lives on Stockhouse Hill has as her guests, Mrs. Louise Hunt, Miss Elizabeth Pervis and Mr. Hunt of Lakewell, Fla. The two small children, Emma Lou and Joyce, of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brock, who have been very ill, are much improved. - Mrw and Mrs. Adger M. Pace of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., will ar rive August 6th to spend the month of August. Mr. Pace is a music writer and composer. COUNTY SEAT NEWS By Mrs. Edward Staggs. Mrs. Alta Smith of Spartanburg and Miss Ruth Clayton of Holly Springs spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. James Swain. Stephen and Gordon Beecher _ have returned to Towaco, N. J., after a month’s visit with Neal and David Hall. Miss Mary Louise Gibson of Charlotte spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson. Miss Virginia Pack, small daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Pack is much improved after a recent ill ness. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tallant visit-^ ed relatives in Franklin on 'Sun-' day. Mrs. Gray Feagan and children are visiting Mrs. Earline H. Gor don in Gastonia. Mr. and Mrs. James B. Hester, Mrs. H. H. Conrad and B..L. Bal lenger left today for a visit to the Smokies and to see the Indian play, “Unto These Hills.” Pfc. Seth Taylor, U. Sw Marines, returns Saturday to Quantico, Va., after a 15 day furlough to visit JUt parents, Mr .and Mrs. J. Taylor. Mrs. Lydia Tibke, of Haines City, Fla., and her sister, Mrs. Lucile Anderson of Winter Haven, Fla., have gone to Waynesville after spending a few days with Mrs. Florence Averill. Miss Joyce Pixley who is re presenting the DeLand, Fla. Pres byterian church this week at Mont reat, N. C. will arrive Friday to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. C .Dominick. Rev. and Mrs. Charles L. Mc Gavern and children of New- Or leans, have arrived for a month’s stay in Tryon and are occupying the Episcopal rectory. Mr. Mo Gavern will be the supply minis ter at the Church of the Cross this month. Mrs. dBi" Gavern’s mother, Mrs. F. C. of Ottsville, Pa., has joined them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Furr have returned from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Furr in Greens boro, N. C. Mrs. John Fuldner has returned from Camp Gordon, Ga., where she was the guest of Capt. and Mrs. William R. McLean. FOUND: Car keys in front of Congregational parsonage.
