Young Democratic Club of Ruth
erford County, held the second day
of September, the following reso
lution was unanimously adopted:
It is with sincere regret that we
learn of the passing of Hon. A. L.
Bulwinkle. We, the Young Demo
crats of Rutherford County, feel
the loss of our distinguished lead
er and statesman, who has served
our state and nation magnificent
ly as lawyer, churchman, soldier,
and congressman for so many years

Robert T. Burnett, formerly of
Tryon, who has been with the
Southern Bell Telephone and Tele
graph Co., in Atlanta, Ga., has ac
cepted a position with the Ameri
can Telephone and Telegraph Co.,
at 195 Broadway, New York City.
Lt. Richard McClure and his
squadron have been sent from
Tucson, Ariz., over sea, according
to news received by his mother,
Mrs. Garrison McClure. Mr. Ram
sey flew to Tucson and drove Mrs.
McClure to South Bend, Ind.,
where shfr is visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Ramsey.
The Rev. Allan R. Broome, Lan
drum native, has been elected exec
utive secretary of the Methodist
Board of Education of the South
Carolina Conference. The Rev.
Mr. Broome, who previously held
pastorates in Spartanburg, is a
graduate of Wofford College and
Emory University. For the past 5
years he has been connected with
Epworth Orphanage of Columbia
as assistant superintendent and
minister of the campus church.—

two other women doctors on ship
board returning from a tour of
Europe and especially Zurich,
Switzerland, where they attended
the International Congress of
Pediatrics. ^
