APPEAL TO YOUNG POLK
Halloween is just around the
corner. Now is the time for parents
to plan with their children how
they may have a night of hilarity
without bringing destruction of any
kind in the community. The Parent
Teachers Association makes a
special appeal for our young peo
ple to show the citizens of Tryon
that they can* have a good time
without damage" to public property,
personal property and cars.
With pancake season here again
do you know how to turn them
out that appetizing, even golden
brown which makes your menfolk
drool?
One secret is a well-seasoned
griddle. Scour it first with fine
steel wool; suds, rinse, and dry
it well. Brush the griddle’s bak
ing surface with a liberal coating
of unsalted fat or salad oil. Heat
it slowly atop the stove or in the
oven for two or three hours; re
new the fat or oil coating at 20
minute intervals.
After the griddle has cooled,
scrub it in hot soapsuds; rinse
and dry.
Mother! Do you know that
