Kiwanis meets Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall . . .Tues day, (tomorrow), is the big elec tion day. The Republicans have 'a page ad in today’s issue giving the list of local candidates for both parties. The district and state officers’ names will be on ballots handed voters at the election booths. The list is too long to pub lish here. If you are a Democrat and want to vote straight just make a cross (X) mark in the big circle at the top and fold it up'. If you are a Republican make a similar mark in the big circle at the top of the Republican column. If you wish to split your ticket don’t make a mark in the circle at the top, but make a mark in front of each candidate for whom you wish to vote. Both parties have selected the men they think best qualified, so which ever way you vote you can’t make a big mis take, if you are a “ticket splitter.” Those who vote straight have their decisions already made up for them. . . . The Spartanburg Herald reports marriage of Cecil Caldwell Ruff of Landrum and Frances Hellen Gregorl, Taylors Route One .... F^ecv*?*' COLUMBUS ^JO^frompt work by the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department saved the historic Boxwood Inn from total destruction by fire early this morning. The inn is now the resi dence of R. S. Ramsey and family. Civic leaders point out this is a good example of the value of hav ing a first class fire department in the community. HOSPITAL NEWS New patients admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital during the week end were Mrs. Marion Revan, Campobello; Mrs. Florence Turner, Campobello and Elizabeth Daven port, Mill Spring. Patients discharged include Don ald' Earle EdwSrds, Columbus; Mrs. Ruth Lawter, Saluda and young Lottie Spurlin of Columbus. Tryon Chamber of Commerce committees are at work trying to raise some funds to make prepar ations for the new mill at Colum bus.
