Here Wednesday, Dec. 20
Tryon Volunteer Firemen will
decorate a large Christmas tree
opposite Foodland on Wednesday,
December 20th, and put on a pro
gram starting at 6:30 p. m. Santa
Claus will arrive on the scene
riding the big fire truck loaded
with bags of candy and fruit for
distribution to all the children
present.
After the presentation to the
children the older group will join
in singing Christmas carols fol
lowed bv square dancing in the
street which Will be roped off
from Missildine’s to the Supreme
Service Station as it was done on
Halloween night. W. W. Creas
man of the Fire Department and
Demus Chapman of the Tryon
Chamber of Commerce are chair
men of the committee on arrange
ments.
CHANCES FOR PEACE
' Tomorrow afternoon, Dec. 7th,
at 3:30 p. m., the people of Tryon
and vicinity will have an~bppor
tunity to hear about the “Chances
for Peace” in a talk ter be given
by Editor Donald Shoemaker of
The Asheville Citizen at the Lanier
Club meeting. At least that was
his topic the last heard from h5m,
but he felt that with the situa
tion changing so rapidly in the
Far East he might have to change
his lecture to fit the latest reports
from Korea. Public invited.
