Christmas leaves for service men have been cancelled for many and the Home Friendly Club is leaving addresses in some of the Tryon stores for the benefit of those who wish to send Christmas cards to the ser vice men .... Donations to the Fireman’s Christmas tree fund may be left with Chief Walter Roach at the Police Station. Chairman W. W. Creasman is eager to know how much money will be raised in order to know how many children to make happy. All chil dren, white and colored under 10 years will receive candy and fruit. Over 1,000 are expected here on Wednesday, Dec. 20 . . . Congratu lations to Tryon Civic leaders, Riding & Hunt Club on success fully putting on the big Triple Sports event .... The Spartan burg Herald reports marriage of Nelson Ray Ayers, Campobello and Betty Lee Nodine, Landrum. HOSPITAL NEWS Mrs. W. H. (Minnie) Durham of Ballenger’s fell Saturday and broke her arm. She is in St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. The festivities started Friday evening with a cocktail party and dinner at Chinquapin Farm with Mrs. Ernst Mahler as hostess. On Saturday noon following the Bench Show at Fancy Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Carter P. Brown were hosts at a hot luncheon for the out-of-town guests and members of the Riding & Hunt Club. Saturday night at the Auberge a Dutch Treat cocktail party and dinner were given sponsored by the Riding & Hunt Club. About 90 guests were present. The number being reduced on account of the death of Mr. Elsas of Atlanta. Favorable comments were made by many visitors concerning the show. Mrs. David Hedekin, noted horsewoman of Atlanta, secretary of the Shakerag Hounds, stated that Fancy Hills was the most appropriate place for the Hunter Trials that she «ad ever seen. Delmar Twyman of Durham, act ing as judge in place of Lowry Watkins of Louisville, Ky., who was snowbound, stated that he was fortunate in being able to judge tihe event; that he had never seen a filler lot of hunters.
