Green River Baptists In
Simultaneous Revival
Twenty-three Baptist Churches
in the Green River Association are
cooperating1 with the plan of the
Southern Baptist Convention for
its 18,000 Baptist churches east of
the Mississippi River to unite in
simultaneous revivals this spring.
Directing this gigantic effort is
Dr. C. E. Matthews, secretary of
the Department of Evangelism for
the Southern Baptist Home Mis
sion Board. The North Carolina
director, Dr. J. C. Canipe, spoke
at the afternoon session of the
Green River Associational meeting
at Piedmont Baptist Church near
Rutherfordton Thursday. Rev. T.
B. Deese is superintendent of
evangelism for Green River Asso
ciation, and his organizer is Rev.
Henry Powell, missionary for the
association.
Kaaio station wcou is planning
to broadcast messages by the
visiting evangelists and the local
pastors who will preach in these
revivals during the period of March
25-April 8. The Sandy Run and
Green River Associations are co
operating to furnish speakers each
day from 9 to 9:15 a. m., and from
5:45 to 6 p. m.
