Another $1,000 to reach the goal -of $15,000. Just think 10c from every man woman and child in Polk County would raise that amount* It shows how big little contributions count when a lot of people give. One hun dred people giving $10 each will complete the drive, or 200 people at $5 each. If you don’t have the money now you can sign a pledge of intention to pay so much a month ..... Tryon County Club Tournament Committee has invited Sam Sneed, the famous golf player, to give an exhibition at the Tryon Country Club, Tuesday, April 10th, day before Horse Show. That’s the biggest golf news here in over 20 years .... .The Tryon Cham ber of Commerce annual dinner meeting will be held tonight at Oak Hall Hotel with Congressman Woodrow W. Jones as chief speaker. A skit by Ervin Land rum, music by Mrs. Emily Jack son and Virgil Cox are other fea tures of the program. Visitors desiring to attend the meeting after the dinner may make ar rangements with the hotel . . . Mrs. C. W. Mason has gone to Solon, Ohio, to spend Easter holi days with her daughter, Mlrs. Wm. G. Nee and family. From there she will go to Detroit to visit another daughter, Mrs. R. A. Muller and family. Mrs. Arhcie Covington has re turned after a few days’ visit in Spartanburg. On Tuesday afternoon, April 3 from 3 to 5, all friends and neigh bors of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin John son are invited to a shower. They lost everything by fire last Wed nesday. This 'will be a miscellan eous shower and the public is in vited to come and do their part in helping the Johnsons. Mrs. John Fisher and Mrs. Cecil Pace of Zirconia spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Clint Johnson. Jack Johnson is sick with flu. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Gibson, who •have been on a vacation for a week on the East coast and the Magnolia Gardens, in Charleston, returned Tuesday. Rev. Hugh D. Pollard, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, announc es his topic for Sunday morning at 11 as “A Wise Investment”. Rev. Mr. Pollard was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Hipp Sunday. iNancy ^eiana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Leland is very sick. The City Election for 2 commis sioners will be on May 8th. All those wishing to register may do so at the City Hall on Saturday April 14, 21, and 28th. A. G. Hipp spent last week-end with his grandfather, H. G. Laugh ter at Columbus.
