As usual the weather here (Santa Monica, Calif.) is unusual, being too cool for this time of the year. But is beautiful in the luxuriant gardens .... Mrs. J. W. Biddy, 82, passed away early this morning at her home on Mill Spring Route 2, after a lingering illness. The deceased was the daughter of the late Harry and Jane Smith McCurry. Mrs. Biddy is survived by her husband and the following chil dren: Dr. O. D. Biddy and Mrs. J. Arthur Harris of Brevard; mrs. rurman jacicson, Mill spring Route 2; John J. Biddy, Hender sonville and Asheville; also sur viving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Case and Mrs. Betty Connor of Columbus and two brothers, Walter McCurry, Chimney Rock and Joe McCurry, of Columbus. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Cooper’s Gap Baptist Church. Burial in church cemetery. Funeral services will be conduct ed by the Rev. George Lynch and the Rev. Paul Stepp. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. McDADE ON USS DONNER Billy A. McDade, B. T. T., of Route 2, Mill Spring, is a member of the crew of the U.S.S. Donner (LSI>-20), which recently took part in fleet exercises in the Mediterranean as a part of Sixth Fleet. McDade, is the husband of Mrs. Maude McDade, of Route 2, Mill Spring. He attended Sunny View school and enlisted in the U. S. Navy on Sept. 21, 1940, volunteered for active duty in the U. S. Naval Reserve on Aug. 26, 1950. During his present tour of duty in the Mediterranean McDade has visited the following ports: Gibral tar, Sardinia, Gulfe Juan, France, (French Riveria), Augusta, Sicily, _Continued on Back Page
