When hot weather comes little children just naturally long for a place to wade. There is no convenient place in the Tryon area for everybody’s children to enjoy the fun of wading. Dr. W. S. Green once had a dream of turn ing the area back of the Methodist Church into a park with a wading pool for all children of the com munity. That would have been a great contribution to the children of many generations .... Oak Hall hotel now > provides shuffle board and horse shoe pitching among its entertainments . . . Try on Country Club members and their guests will have an after noon of fun Saturday with a con test for golfers starting at 1:30, bridge and canasta for non golfers at .2:30, outdoor supper of ham burgers and hot dogs at '6:30. Reservations are to be made not later than Wednesday night or Thursday morning. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Jackson left today for Chicago to attend the an nual meeting of the National Council Boy Scout Council. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Helton Jr., of Mill Spring are parents of a son born Tuesday at 3:20 a. m. Funeral Wednesday for Three Children Drowned Monday Three children, ages 9, 11, and 13, went wading in a shallow pond near Landrum Monday afternoon and all three slipped into a hole over their heads and drowned in the presence of an aunt who was helpless to aid them. All three are children of Mr. and Mrs. Brown Tessnier of Landrum section. Bobby, age 13, Margaret, 11, and Brown Tessnier Jr., age 9. An aunt, Miss Ella Tessnier, tried to save them but couldn't and ran for help. It was 45 minutes before swimmers found ’ the first child. He was brought to St. Luke’s Hospital where artificial respira tion was tried. Margaret was taken to Spartan burg General Hospital and was pro nounced dead on arrival. A physi cian had arrived at the scene by the time young Brown Tessnier was pulled out of the water and he Was also dead. The tragedy happened about 4:15 p. m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Ingleside Baptist Church near Landrum with the pastor, the Rev. Robert Brooks, officiating. The bodies will be at the home after 4 p. m., today. J. L. Petty Funeral Home in charge. HOSPITAL NEWS The following patients were ad mitted to St. Luke’s Hospital: Mrs. Lewis Helton Jr., Mill Spring; Mrs. Lenda Williams, Cooper’s Gap; and Mrs. Russell Clemmons, Tryon. Patients discharged include: Mrs. Dora Leonard, Tryon; Jack Hil ton, Asheville, and Mrs. Marshall Ballew, Tryon.
